Small introduction about ITI

ITI stands for Industrial Training Institute ITIs have been set up with the aim of providing vocational training to Indian students. ITIs are constituted under the DGET (Directorate General of Employment and Training), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Union Government. As I mentioned before, ITIs impart technical training to students. They focus on providing vocational training and developing industry-specific skills. The main objective of such institutes is to develop a skilled work force in India. At present, there are numerous ITIs across India, both Government and private, providing vocational training to students. On completion of the training, the candidates appear for the AITT (All India Trade Test). Successful candidates were given the NTC (National Trade Certificate).

The main aim of an ITI is to make its students-ready, to make him / her job-ready. To make this possible, ITIs even conduct apprenticeship programs Admission Admission to various trades The admission process of the new session Sessions under this scheme starts from 1st August. To get ITI Job in relevant trade one should crack the ITI Entrance Exam as per norms. If you are qualified ITI with engineering trade with AITT NCVT, then you can be called Mechanical or Electrical Engineer. Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) is equivalent to same. After successfully passed in ITI from approved Government College; one can get jobs in Army, Railway, Navy, Rseb and Air force also and in other Private Companies.

Schemes/Courses for ITI pass outs

Apprenticeship Training Scheme

After completing ITI, tradesmen can undergo Apprenticeship training in different industries. The Scheme is implemented by Directorate General of Training under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship with the objective that "Training imparted in Institutions alone is not sufficient for acquisition of skills and needs to be supplemented by training in the actual work place." Duration for Apprenticeship training is generally one year for those appeared in ITI final exam, i.e. AITT. For freshers usually it takes three years. During the training trainees are paid stipend on monthly basis.

Lateral Entry to Polytechnic Diploma Engineering

Polytechnics approved by AICTE offer engineering courses for 3 years duration through an entrance exam known with different name in different states (JEXPO in West Bengal, JEEP in Uttarakhand, JEECUP in Uttar Pradesh, CG PPT in Chandigarh etc.). After the completion of the course candidates are awarded with diploma in different disciplines.Those who have passed minimum 2 years ITI course with National Trade Certificate are given an opportunity to go for a lateral entry directly to the 2nd year of the Polytechnic diploma course.
